Dance duo Larry and Ava will a present a special Zydeco dance demonstration at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 at Dance Haddonfield’s weekly dance. The demo is included with admission.
Zydeco is a lively American dance style with roots in folk, Creole, Cajun and Acadiana, and it’s easy to learn because of the dancer’s self expression. Zydeco music is fun to dance to, with its blend of genres like Creole and rhythm and blues, and is the soundtrack to New Orleans.
Every week, Dance Haddonfield hosts social dances in the upstairs auditorium in the parish house at Grace Church, 19 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield. Intermediate lesson is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m for an extra $5. The beginner lesson is from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and includes a food buffet. The social dancing begins after that and runs until 10:30 p.m. All dancers are welcome — either singles or partners.
Since the first Sunday in April 2000, Dance Haddonfield! has brought together from 50–100 people every week to learn ballroom dance and enjoy a night of fun and friendship. For information visit www.dancehaddonfield.org or call (856) 429–9154.
