Mayor’s Message: Township updates for fall

Fall is a very busy time of year here in Evesham! A big thank you to all our amazing volunteers in town, from coaches, PTA parents and teachers, clubs, organizations and so much more, we are grateful for your commitment to your neighbors.

It is imperative that we are forward thinking as we come together to make this community a great place to live today and for years to come. That is why sustainability must be a part of our vision. We are exploring ways to be a more sustainable community whether it be through township operations, businesses development or open space and recreation.

This past month I was proud to kick off the Mayors Wellness Campaign. This is an initiative that promotes opportunities for our residents to participate in events that help create healthy communities. The community policing officers are hosting a boot camp starting on Oct. 26 and running for four weeks on Saturday mornings. I hope to see many of you there! Be on the lookout for nutrition programs, community runs and more opportunities for healthy living. If you have an idea on what you want to do in your neighborhood please reach out to me.

I, along with Deputy Mayor Heather Cooper, recently held a meeting with our faith leaders. We are grateful for our faith communities who give back so much to our town. It was truly a testament to their leadership that people of different faiths and backgrounds are dedicated to coming together to serve all our residents.

Recently, you may have heard of the anti-Semitic flyers that were shared around town. After such a great meeting with our faith leaders I felt it was important to address this issue in a swift manner. I appreciate the police department and all of their efforts to investigate this matter fully. We have zero tolerance for such flagrant anti-Semitism, or any other form of evil and bigotry in our town. I encourage all of our residents to speak out. If you see something, say something. Nothing is too small to report!

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month and September was Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Cancer does not discriminate and has unfortunately touched so many of our loved ones. To those brave survivors who have either beat cancer or who are currently fighting the good fight, please know Evesham and your entire community supports you.

I want to end by saying what an honor it is to be your Mayor. I am lucky to be able to give back to the community who has given so much to me. Thank you for allowing me to serve you. Please reach out to us at (856) 983-2900 should you need assistance or have a concern.
