School’s back in session, football is in full swing, warm days will yield to cool nights and as the seasons change, the leaves will begin to fall on borough thoroughfares. There will be no shortage of events to feature the best Haddonfield has to offer in the artistic, culinary and retail spheres just prior to the holiday season.
Below is a list of all the sights, sounds, tastes and smells in which borough residents and those throughout the region can partake over the next few months.
Friends of the Library Book Sale
Haddonfield Friends of the Library will hold its annual book sale for two days, Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., then Sunday, Sept. 22 from noon to 4 p.m.

Annual Flea Market
The Haddonfield Lions Club will host its annual flea market on Saturday, Sept. 21, at One Centennial Square (the Archer law firm parking lot next to the Haddonfield PATCO Station), from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In addition to great shopping, there will be food for sale. As always, the profits from the flea market and food sales all go to charities supported by the Lions, including many organizations that benefit those with visual impairments and disabilities, as well as some community groups. Haddon Fortnightly Anniversary Celebration
On Saturday, Sept. 21, The Haddon Fortnightly will commemorate its 125th anniversary with a cocktail reception at its clubhouse, 301 Kings Highway East. Lasting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., it will feature a half-dozen local caterers, and a special baker who will make a cake tailored to the event, as well as a signature concoction dubbed the “Fortnightly Fizz.” Tickets are $60 per person, and can be purchased at: https://thehaddonfortnightly.org/celebration.
Haddonfield Farmers Market
In the midst of celebrating its 13th season of operation in Kings Court, the Haddonfield Farmers Market will take place each Saturday through the Fall Festival and Craft Show, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Musical guests for the remainder of the market are expected to be: “Dance Haddonfield,” Sept. 21, Jeff Money on Oct. 5, and “Lonesome Turnpike Ramblers,” on Oct. 12.

Fall Festival and Juried Craft Show
Kings Highway and Tanner Street will once again feature the best of various community groups and a broad sampling of wares from a variety of local artisans. The one-day event is set to occur on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition to arts and crafts, the borough will also celebrate the 16th birthday of the “Haddy” sculpture on Haddy Lane at noon. There will be carriage rides for kids of all ages on Kings Court from noon to 3 p.m., as well as scarecrow-making and a makeshift pumpkin patch that’s perfect for family portraits.
First Sunday Open and Pop-up Display
In the run-up to the spookiness of the Halloween season, The Historical Society of Haddonfield dips into the realm of the scary, from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, with its presentation, “Paleontology and Dinosaurs in Haddonfield,” at Greenfield Hall, 343 Kings Highway East. Girls’ Night Out
Downtown Haddonfield will be alight on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 17, featuring a ladies’ exclusive night of shopping, dining and relaxing between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. It’s a free event that is certain to feature various in-store promotions and the best treats and eats. Haunted Haddonfield Walking Tours
Bill Meehan will once again provide insight into the spookier locales in the borough on this 45-minute sojourn. The walks are scheduled for a pair of Fridays (Oct. 18 and 25) and Saturdays, Oct. 19 and 26), at 7 p.m. each day inside Greenfield Hall. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Halloween Parade
Courtesy of the Haddonfield Celebrations Association, assorted freaks and ghouls and those who love to dress up and enjoy the spirit of the season, the parade will kick off Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. from its usual spot at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Kings Highway East, then proceed along the highway to Borough Hall, where sweets, games and prizes await the parade’s young participants. Haunted Mansion

Lecture Series
Later in autumn, The Haddon Fortnightly will welcome author Lorene Cary, who will talk about her book, “Ladysitting: My Year with Nana at the End of Her Century” on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 3 p.m. Admission to the lecture and reception is $20, while cost of lecture, reception and a signed copy of the book is $45.
