County to begin utilizing Hope One mobile for those battling addiction

Press release from the Burlington County Sheriff's Department.

The unit will help the county offer assistance to those battling addiction and their families (Special to The Sun/Burlington County Sheriff’s Department).

The Burlington County Sheriff’s Department will launch Hope One Burlington County, a mobile unit that brings addiction and recovery services and resources to those struggling with drug addiction. Beginning next week, this outreach program aims to help curtail the opioid epidemic, and in turn reduce drug-related crimes in Burlington County.

“Hope One Burlington County will travel throughout Burlington County to offer assistance to individuals suffering from addiction, along with the family members that are looking to get help for their loved one,” said Undersheriff Michael Ditzel.

Hope One Burlington County will travel throughout Burlington County every Tuesday with the first mobile outreach taking place on Sept. 10 at the Brown Mills Shopping Center (100 Pemberton Browns Mills Road, Browns Mills) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hope One staff will provide linkage to peer-to-peer recovery specialists and treatment facilities, provide Narcan trainings and distribute free Narcan kits. Partnering with the county’s health and human services departments, they will meet additional needs in the community by providing communicable disease testing, on-site photo identification, free toiletry kits and refreshments.

“We know that this mobile unit will be an incredible community resource for Burlington County residents,” added Undersheriff Michael Ditzel.
