Obituary: Richard Warren Woodhull

On Aug. 25, Richard “Rick” Woodhull passed on to the next chapter of life, surrounded by his family.

Born October 28, 1951, to the late Richard H. and Dorothy S. Woodhull in Mt. Holly (during the Medford Halloween Parade), he was raised in Medford before moving to Shamong, where he lived most of his life.

Richard went to school in Medford and graduated from Lenape Regional High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and worked for the family John Deere farm machinery business, Woodhull Equipment Inc. He was a life member of the Union Fire Co. of Medford, where he served as junior firefighter, chief engineer and treasurer. Richard joined the Medford Township Police Department in 1974 as a patrolman and worked himself up through the ranks to lieutenant, where he served as patrol commander. He was also a member of the dive team, a firearms instructor, a team leader on the M.E.R.T. Tactical Team and later part of the Burlington Co. Joint Tactical Teams, retiring in 2000.

Rick was also a member of the New Jersey Forest Fire service for over 35 years of service as a crewman and a district warden, operator of B-40, and the fire police captain for the Indian Mills Volunteer Fire Company.  He was also a charter member of the Grace Alliance Chapel of Westampton for years where he served Jesus as a ministry leader and trustee.

Rick is survived by his wife Deborah Kay (nee Perkins); his son Adam Richard Woodhull and his wife Cynthia of Marlton; and his daughter Lauren Alice Kamps and her husband William of Burlington City. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Charlotte Dorothy, Jonathan Dominick and Benjamin Richard of Marlton; Caraline Noel and Isaac Muwanguzi of Burlington City. Brother Charles M. Woodhull (Donna) of Medford, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and Friends are invited to his viewing on Aug. 30 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Rd., Medford, as well as on Aug. 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the FELLOWSHIP ALLIANCE CHAPEL, 199 Church Rd., Medford. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Interment will follow at the Parkview Cemetery at Kirby’s Mill in Medford. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Camden Co. Chapter, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ, 08034, or to the Grace Alliance Chapel, 118D Burrs Rd., Westampton, NJ, 08060.
