Continuing an annual tradition, eager hands of Kiwanis Club members made short order of packing up 20 backpacks and five boxes of school supplies for the Center for Family Services’ “Project Backpack.”
Adjourning their Aug. 16 club meeting early, the Kiwanis Club of the Haddons sorted colorful backpacks, crayons, pencils, pens, highlighters, rulers, glue, composition books, notebooks, binders, folders, pencil cases and more. This is the 14th year the Kiwanis Club has provided backpacks to the Center for Family Services in Camden.
“The need this year is so great. We trust the Center for Family Services to find the 1500 local children of all ages who are in need of this school year ‘boost’,” noted club president-elect Harvey Lermack.
One Kiwanis Club member will be taking her grandson, a rising high school
sophomore, to the Center for Family Services’ project backpack warehouse to stuff age-appropriate backpacks.
