Mantua Township patrol summary, June 12 – 19

The following are on file at the Mantua Township Police Department.

June 12

  • Officers took a report for a subject who lost his wallet in Atlantic City.
  • Units responded to a reported car fire at the PetSmart, however, it was just overheating.
  • Patrols checked on the well being of a person who was posting they wanted to harm themselves.
  • Officers supervised students from Wenonah Elementary who walked to the lake for end of the year activities.
  • Units checked for a possible domestic dispute in which it was reported that a female was chasing her boyfriend down the street. The couple was gone upon our arrival and could not be located.
  • Units responded to a hit-and-run at the Wendy’s in which a vehicle backed into a fence.
  • Units took a criminal mischief complaint for a vehicle that had its exhaust pipe damaged.
  • Units took a fraud report for a victim who gave a check to a construction company to work on their house, but never showed up after the check was cashed.
  • Officers responded to an unwanted person who showed up at his ex’s house to see their child.
  • Patrols took a fraud complaint in which the victim was emailed to purchase Home Depot gift cards from an email that appeared to come from his employer.
  • Units responded to a single-vehicle crash on Harrison Avenue in which the vehicle needed to be towed.
  • Units took a theft report for a victim who had cash stolen at Planet Fitness.

June 13

  • Officers are investigating an attempted arson to a vehicle in which the victim may know the accused.
  • Officers assisted the N.J. State Police with three separate crashes on Route 55 during the morning commute.
  • Officers took a report from a person who had their wallet stolen from Planet Fitness on June 12.
  • Units took a theft report in which money was withdrawn from the victim’s bank account without her knowledge or consent.
  • Sgt. Herner conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested an occupant for an outstanding warrant. They were processed and released.
  • Officers responded to numerous calls for trees and branches that had fallen into the roadway throughout town during a powerful storm.
  • Patrols took a missing person report for a male who had not come home from work and made threating remarks that he was going to harm himself.  Officers investigated for hours and into the next day and he was located in Maryland.

June 14

  • Units responded to a theft of construction equipment from the Country Gardens community0
  • Ptl. Hasselman located a stolen vehicle out of Pitman and chased the vehicle into Camden where he was able to make an arrest after a foot chase also.
  • Officers responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Target store.
  • Ptl. Donovan and his K-9 partner Boomer did an explosives sweep of the football fields of Clearview Regional before their graduation ceremony.
  • Patrols responded to a minor crash on Woodbury-Glassboro Road in the area of Mantua Boulevard.
  • Units assisted a motorist who had locked their keys in their vehicle while at the Wawa store.
  • Ptl. Oldrati conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested an occupant for outstanding warrants.

June 15

  • Officers took a report for a theft of 15 car batteries from a business.
  • Officers supervised community service workers who cleaned up litter in the township.
  • Patrols responded to a crash on Harrison Avenue near Berkley Road where both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene.
  • Units responded to a crash on Center Street in the area of the garden center.
  • Patrols responded to a neighbor dispute in the Pinebrook Apartments.
  • Ptl. Oldrati conducted a car stop and arrested the driver for DUI and drug related charges. He was processed and released.

June 16

  • Officers responded to a violation of a restraining order.
  • Units assisted a motorist who had locked their keys in their vehicle at the Dollar General.
  • Officers assisted Pitman Police with a combative subject.
  • Patrols took a criminal mischief complaint for a vehicle that was keyed in Centre City.
  • Units responded to a report of dirt bikes riding along the railroad tracks.
  • Patrols responded to a crash involving a motorcycle on Jackson Road.
  • Officers responded to a neighbor dispute over the parking of a commercial vehicle in a residential area.
  • Units responded to a domestic disturbance between a woman and her stepfather.
  • Ptl. Schnarr conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested three occupants for drug related charges.

June 17

  • Units responded to a crash on Glassboro Road in the area of the Target store.
  • Officers investigated a suspicious bag that was found in the grass near the Lowe’s shopping center. Investigation revealed it was trash and was discarded.
  • Officers took a report of bank fraud.
  • Patrols responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Chick-Fil-A.
  • Units responded to a crash in Wenonah where one vehicle needed to be towed.
  • Units responded to a second crash in Wenonah by the lake where another vehicle needed to be towed.
  • Officers responded to a domestic assault between a male and female. A restraining order was granted and the female left the residence.
  • An employee of Target was charged with theft after an internal investigation was completed.

June 18

  • Units responded to a two-vehicle crash on Main Street by Heritage Road where two people were treated for minor injuries.
  • Officers moved a disabled motor vehicle that was on Main Street by Center Street to a safe location until it could be towed.
  • Patrols responded to a minor crash on Route 45 by the Walgreens.
  • Officers responded to a report of a solicitor who did not have a permit that was soliciting exterminator services.
  • Officers investigated an assault that occurred a few days prior between a boyfriend and girlfriend.
  • Sgt. Herner conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested a subject on outstanding warrants. He was processed and released.
  • Officers investigated an abandoned vehicle in Wenonah. It was towed from the scene.
  • Officers recovered lost property and were able to track down its owner and brought it to them.
  • Units investigated a report of gunshots being heard in the area of Breakneck Road

June 19

  • Patrols responded to a single-vehicle crash in which a car struck a pole and needed to be towed.
  • Officers served a restraining order.
  • Officers assisted a motorist at Golf U who had locked their keys in their vehicle.
  • Officers took a theft report for a backpack that was stolen from the Planet Fitness.
  • Ptl. Layton conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested an occupant for possession of drugs.
