Grants totaling $5,000 from the Investors Foundation and Roma Bank Community Foundation are enabling the Medford-Vincentown Rotary to offer $42,000 in scholarship money to 10 high school seniors, the largest amount the Rotary has ever offered.
The Medford-Vincentown Rotary applied for the grants from the Investors and Roma Bank Community Foundations, which support non-profit organizations that enrich the diverse communities served by Investors Bank. Roma Bank became part of Investors Bank in December 2013.
Investors Bank Assistant Vice President and Senior Branch Manager for Marlton and Medford, Brad Boye, presented the grant checks to the Medford-Vincentown Rotary at its weekly meeting. “Investors Bank is committed to helping young people expand their educational opportunities. We applaud the Medford-Vincentown Rotary’s ongoing commitment to helping students in its community achieve their dreams, and are proud to be able to assist the Rotary’s efforts by providing these grants. Investors Bank is
confident that through these scholarships, our students will be prepared to be tomorrow’s leaders in providing service to their community.”
According to Bob Wardle, chairman of the Medford-Vincentown Rotary scholarship committee, students in the 08055 or 08088 zip codes who attend Seneca High School, Shawnee High School, Burlington County Institute of Technology, Holy Cross Preparatory Academy or Bishop Eustace Catholic High School were able to apply for the scholarships until April 1. The application included a written essay. Wardle said recipients are selected based on financial need, academic excellence, public service and an interview with the Rotary Club’s selection committee. The Medford-Vincentown Rotary will provide seven $5,000 scholarships, two for $2,500 each and one for $2,000.
“In my review, the successes of tomorrow by the students receiving these grants are beginning today through the generosity of both the Investors and Roma Bank Foundations,” said Wardle. “The Medford-Vincentown Rotary Club thanks both Foundations for their invaluable assistance.”
