Rowan College at Burlington County debuts ‘URINETOWN: The Musical’ April 26

A 20-year drought has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets, forcing citizens to use public amenities regulated by a malevolent company.

The Rowan College at Burlington County student theatrical group – The Lamplight Players – will perform “URINETOWN: The Musical,” at the Burlington County Institute of Technology’s Medford Campus at 10 Hawkin Road, starting April 26.

The show follows a city where a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs until a hero decides that he has had enough and plans a revolution.

More than a dozen students will perform in the show.

The Lamplight Players take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, April 26 and May 3, and Saturdays, April 27 and May 4.

There is a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

General admission is $15. Tickets for RCBC students with a valid student ID are $10.

Tickets can be purchased online at rcbcshowtix.booktix.com. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

For group sales, contact RCBC Theatre Program Coordinator Patricia Cohill at [email protected].
