Mantua Township crime log, Dec. 5 to 11

The following is on file in the Mantua Township Police Department

Dec. 5

● A majority of the officers participated in body camera training that was conducted by the manufacturer at police headquarters.

● Officers responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Wawa on Glassboro Road.

● Units responded to a neighbor complaint involving a borrowed roll of toilet paper.

Dec. 6

● Officers responded to an odor of diesel fuel in the area. It was found to have come from a crash on Route 55 earlier in the day in which diesel fuel had spilled into a storm drain.

● Officers responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a school bus. There were no reported injuries.

● Units responded to a male that was begging for a ride in the area of the Route 45 Wawa. A patron gave him a ride and the male wound up stealing items from inside the patron’s vehicle.

● Officers took a report for two shopliftings that had occurred at the Lowes store.

● Units responded to a minor crash in the area of the Dollar Tree on Glassboro Road

Dec. 7

● Officers assisted a motorist at the Heritage Dairy Store who had locked their keys in their vehicle.

● Officers responded to a neighbor complaint in which one neighbor was videotaping the other while putting up their Christmas lights.

● Units responded to a theft of a cell phone from the Verizon store.

● Officers responded to a hit and run crash on Mantua Boulevard and Center Street.

Dec. 8

● Sgt. Herner conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested an occupant for an outstanding warrant.

● Units responded to a family dispute because the intoxicated husband was defrosting his freezer at 1:30 a.m.

● Units responded to a crash in which a vehicle struck a deer on Tylers Mill Road.

● Officers conducted their monthly car seat installation workshop at the Mantua Fire Headquarters.

● Units participated in the annual Winter Festival at Chestnut Branch Park.

● Officers responded to a crash on Bridgeton Pike in front of Dippy’s Ice Cream involving two vehicles. The vehicles were towed and an ambulance evaluated two children.

● Officers responded to a minor crash in which callers had surrounded a vehicle that they suspected was a drunk driver. The driver was actually in a diabetic shock and transported to the hospital.

● Officers responded to a domestic dispute in which the caller was struck and the cell phone was taken.

Dec. 9

● Ptl. Crispin conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested an occupant for outstanding warrants. He was transported to the Gloucester County Jail.

● Ptl. Mroz arrested an occupant during a motor vehicle stop for outstanding warrants. She posted bail and was released.

● Officers responded to a crash involving a deer on Main Street in the area of Tylers Mill Road.

● Officers responded to a barking dog complaint in the Centre City section.

● Officers took a report in which the caller found charring on the base of his house and believes someone attempted to light his house on fire at some point in the past.

● Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a father and his son.

● Officers received numerous complaints of an oil smell in the area originating from the fuel spill on Route 55 last week.

Dec. 10

● A subject turned himself in on an outstanding warrant and posted bail and was released.

● Units responded to a dwelling fire in Wenonah in which the homeowner smelled something burning within the house.

● Officers responded to the Evergreen Rest Home on Main Street for threats between residents.

● Officers escorted a subject back to their residence to collect their personal items.

● Units responded to a domestic dispute in which the ex-boyfriend would not leave the house.

● Units responded to a minor crash on Glassboro Road in the area of Mantua Boulevard.

● Officers responded to a crash on Bridgeton Pike near the Telford Inn.

● Officers received numerous complaints of an oil smell in the area originating from the fuel spill on Route 55 last week.

Dec. 11

● Units took a report for a stolen motor vehicle in which the keys were left in the unlocked car.

● Units also took a report for a burglary and theft from a motor vehicle which was left unlocked.

● Officers assisted a motorist that had locked his keys in his vehicle at his house.

● Officers responded to a domestic dispute in which a subject had gotten out of the vehicle he was driving in and started to walk along Route 45.

● Officers received numerous complaints of an oil smell in the area originating from the fuel spill on Route 55 last week.

● Units responded to a crash on Glassboro Road in Wenonah.

● Officers responded to a hit-and-run crash in which the pizza delivery driver struck a car and left.

● Officers responded to a crash in which a vehicle struck a deer.

● Units responded to a crash in front of Planet Fitness. One person was transported to the hospital for back pain and a vehicle needed to be towed.

● Units responded to a fight at the Carolina Blue restaurant.
