RCGC announces upcoming May workshops

All workshops, hosted by the Center for People in Transition at rowan College at Gloucester County, are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.

The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County hosts a number of empowerment, health and financial workshops during the month of May. Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are free and open to the public. Registration is mandatory. Call (856) 415–2222, or email [email protected], to register. Small Group Career Night

Nancy Howard, Director of the Center for People in Transition, will host three small group “Career Nights,” for anyone looking for an on-the-spot review of their resume, tips on job-hunting, a refresher on the interview process or insight into what employers expect during an interview and once you are hired. This workshop is sponsored by United Way of Gloucester and will be held on Wednesdays, May 2, 9 and 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

How to be a Savvy Shopper

Join Ashlea Wesztergom to discover strategies to save money on your weekly grocery bill, as well as other shopping trips. She will teach you how to pair printed and digital coupons with store sales ads, which apps can score you additional savings, techniques to keep your coupons organized and how to utilize lists to save time and money. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and will be held on Monday, May 7, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Self-Esteem

Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld, Certified Professional Life Coach, knows the key to happiness in your personal and professional life is high self-esteem. Research shows that when your self-esteem is solid you lead a happier, more satisfying life. Her workshop is designed to help you develop steps for cultivating your self-esteem in order to have a healthier view of yourself. This workshop is sponsored by United Way of Gloucester County and will be held on Tuesday, May 8, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Letting Go — A Healing Journey

Forgiveness is necessary for personal growth and happiness. It frees us to live in the present and brings with it health benefits including reduced anxiety, lower blood pressure and a stronger immune system. Join Jennie McQuaide, Ph.D., Licensed Professional Counselor, to learn how to let go and start living a healthy and connected life. This workshop is sponsored by United Way of Gloucester County and will be held on Tuesday, May 15, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Skills for the Office Professional

Loretta Anthony, Executive Assistant to RCGC’s Vice President of Student Services, knows that office professionals in today’s workplace are expected to juggle numerous details and challenges simultaneously. In this workshop, she will demonstrate how positive interactions with others, goal setting and time management skills can enhance job performance and satisfaction. Join her to learn how to best use your abilities, become a professional presence in your workplace and earn a reputation as someone who can handle any task. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and will be held on Monday, May 21, from 6 to 9 p.m.
