Plastic bags are 100% recyclable at local grocery stores. Never put plastic bags in your recycling bin. Plastic bags can get tangled in the sorting equipment and contaminate loads at the recycling center. Reuse plastic bags for trashcan liners, making creepy crafts or picking up gruesome pet waste.
Every minute 1 million plastic bags are used, less than 1% are recycled; 10% of the plastic bags made every year will end up in the ocean.
