Raymond D. Harvey could face up to fives years in state prison
Raymond D. Harvey, 28, of Sewell, pleaded guilty Thursday, Nov. 30, to attempted disarming of a Deptford Township police officer during a struggle outside the defendant’s ex-girlfriend’s home on Feb. 6.
Under terms of his plea to the second-degree offense (2C:12–11A), Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Joseph Brook will recommend Harvey be sentenced to five years in state prison. Under the state’s No Early Release Act, he must serve 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Superior Court Judge M. Christine Allen-Jackson scheduled the sentencing for Feb. 4, 2018. Harvey has been in jail since his arrest the day of the incident.
Police had been dispatched to an Oak Avenue residence for a report of an unwanted person and encountered defendant Harvey, who fled and then violently resisted arrest, according to a complaint against Harvey.
