Mayor’s message: Annual Super Bowl hoagie sale, senior citizen luncheon, and small group budget meetings

Special to The Sun: Celebrating the senior luncheon

Annual Super Bowl hoagie sale

I was honored to be a part of the Washington Township Education Foundation Hoagie Sale on Sunday, Feb. 3. Joining me at this event were council president Joe Perry, councilwoman Andra Williams, business owner Nicole Lannutti of The Craft Room, and former councilwoman Angela Donato. I would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that was provided in order to make this event possible. Thank you to the Washington Township Education Foundation, Charlie Doud, Ron Lucarini, and the students who volunteered their time for this extremely successful event. Every year the amount of sales and donations increases and that is thanks to all of those who make it their mission to see this fundraiser succeed so families in Washington Township receive the help they need. I am always proud to see this level of community service and commitment in Washington Township.

Senior citizen hoagie luncheon

On Feb. 4, as a tradition on the day after Super Bowl Sunday, my administration and I brought hoagies to the Washington Township Senior Citizen Center where I was able to help pass out the food to the seniors. Perry, Donato, police chief Patrick Gurcsik, and business administration Jason Gonter were also there to join me for this occasion and help me pass out the hoagies. I was pleased to speak with some of the senior citizens of Washington Township and get to know them on a more personal level.

Small group budget meetings

Once again, my administration is offering small group budget meetings for residents to ask any questions they have or to offer any constructive ideas they may have regarding the 2019 municipal budget. Our business administrator, along with our chief financial officer, and assistant chief financial officer, will be hosting these small group meetings. For your convenience, we are offering a variety of dates and times for these budget meetings. We ask that you contact the business administrator’s administrative assistant, Lori Morello to register for your preferred meeting date. Morello can be reached at [email protected]. You can visit our website at www.TownshipNJ.com for the meeting dates; they will be listed under the ‘Calendar’ section, as well as the ‘News flash’ section on the main web page. We look forward to hearing some constructive ideas from the residents of Washington Township.

Joann Gattinelli is the Mayor of Washington Township. She can be reached at [email protected].
