Washington Township High School seniors Emily Gray and Giovani Jimenez, both players with U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams, signed their National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, while students and staff present “Open” assembly, shedding light on racism, stereotypes and bullying. They wanted to make a difference, they wanted their voices to be heard, and they felt now was the time to do it. On Wednesday, Feb. 7, students and staff from the Washington Township High School Students in Action, Changing Our World Project, African American Culture Club and Project Unify used the power of expression to open hearts, minds and eyes on topics of racism, stereotypes, social media and bullying during a school-wide assembly titled “Open.”
Council meeting sheds light on the future of Washington Township Police Department
Police Chief Patrick Gurcsik presented a State of the Police Department Address at the Wednesday, Feb. 7, council meeting, looking forward to continued improvements and community outreach in 2018. Additionally, Public Works Supervisor Brian McCaffery provided an update on the township’s snow-clearing procedures, answering many frequently asked questions from residents during a community snow event.
Two elite soccer players make their college commitments official on National Signing Day
Two of Washington Township High School’s most talented soccer players made their college commitments official during Wednesday’s National Signing Day. Seniors Emily Gray and Giovani Jimenez, players who have competed in the U.S. Soccer national academy system, each signed their National Letter of Intent. Gray will take the field for Virginia Tech next fall, while Jimenez will attend Providence College.
