Cinnaminson High School holding multiple concerts in May and June

Admission is free, and all are welcome.

The Cinnaminson High School music department will present the spring choral concert on Wednesday, May 10 at 7 p.m. in the Cinnaminson High School Auditorium. Performances by the CHS concert choir and chamber choir will be presented. Under the direction of Mrs. Stephanie Berger, music of various genres and styles will be presented. The choirs will be performing several works by composers of the 20th and 21stcenturies including Morten Lauridson, Ola Gjeillo, Joseph M. Martin, Randall Thompson and Moses Hogan. The chamber choir will also present a set of “Six Witticisms” of Benjamin Franklin arranged by Henry Locke. Both choirs will pay tribute to some of the songs of Paul Simon.

The music department will also present their spring band concert on Wednesday, May 17 at 7 p.m. in the CHS auditorium. Groups performing at the concert will be the guitar class ensembles, saxophone quartet, flute ensemble, SKA band, jazz band and concert band. Guitarists will perform in small groups a wide variety of music showcasing this first year of guitar class at CHS. The newly-formed SKA ensemble will play music from the popular group Lucky Chops. The chamber groups will cover traditional music as well as a few pop music surprises. The concert band will be performing essential repertoire as well as music from Broadway and Hollywood. As an added incentive, the concert band will once again be asking alumni to join them on stage for the traditional concert closer “To The Max.” For more information, contact Miss Knisely at [email protected].

The district strings concert featuring string students throughout the district will take place in the CHS Auditorium on Thursday, June 1 at 7 p.m. With a theme of “Students Choice,” the program will feature a very diverse selection of works from the soulful and thought provoking “Isma’a” from the Middle East, contemporary TV compositions such as “House of Cards” and “Game of Thrones,” along with rock classics such as “The Battle of Evermore” and “Stairway to Heaven,” among many other favorites. As has become something of a tradition with Cinnaminson Strings, they will once again feature a new surprise student arrangement, this time from High School Freshman, Brandon Rohn.

Students, parents, families, and friends are encouraged to come out and support the students while enjoying the music and these entertaining evenings. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
