Joshua Dicks earns the title of Eagle Scout
I was honored to present Joshua Dicks with a proclamation to acknowledge his great achievement of receiving the title of Eagle Scout at the council meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 24. Dicks’ Eagle Scout leadership project was to make many extensive repairs, repaint, pressure wash and install LED display lighting at the Olde Stone House Village. This project took more than 140 volunteer hours to complete. Dicks finished this large project in August 2017 and went on to pass his Eagle Scout Board of Review on Nov. 2. I was also thrilled to be a part of Dicks’ Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 27. He worked hard to get where he is now, and I know he will continue to set goals and surpass them in the future.
Beneficial meetings for Washington Township residents
Last year, my administration felt it imperative to host scheduled small group budget meetings for residents to attend and ask any questions they had regarding the 2017 budget. We will be continuing this tradition for the 2018 budget. My Business Administrator Jason Gonter, along with our Chief Financial Officer Colette Bachich will be leading these meetings. We feel it is the residents’ right to ask questions and understand every aspect of the budget. There will be more information to come, so keep an eye on our social media pages, as well as our town website at www.TownshipNJ.com.
Another meeting initiative my administration implemented last year was Coffee with the Mayor. These meetings are continuous and take place every third Thursday of the month from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. This is an opportunity for residents to speak face to face with me and discuss constructive ideas on how we can better the town. You must sign up and send your one to two questions or ideas to my Administrative Assistant Alicia Rotella at [email protected] to attend these meetings.
Shop Washington Township cards
When the Shop Washington Township program launched on Jan. 8, my administration placed cards in each department of the Municipal Building so residents could pick cards up and begin receiving tax rebates. As we’ve been stating from the beginning, every Washington Township resident should have also received a card in the mail, along with their Washington Township calendars. Don’t forget, in order to use your Shop Washington Township cards and receive your rebates, you must register your card online at www.PropertyTaxCard.com/ShopWashingtonTownship/register. The directions explaining how to register your card are on the back of your Washington Township calendars and are also available in every department at the Municipal Building. The program has been growing each week and we are thankful to each and every business that continues to join. For more information on how you can join the Shop Washington Township Program, please contact Rotella at (856) 589–0575 or at [email protected].
