Burger Barr

On Aug. 24, I was happy to join owners Joshua Hemingway and George Mashas of Burger Barr in celebrating their official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. Also present at the grand opening, was Washington Township Chamber member, Nicole Lannutti, Chamber President, Brian Bailey and Dean Auer of Jefferson Health in Washington Township. Burger Barr is also a participant of the Shop Washington Township Program and offers residents a 7.50% rebate on their third quarter property taxes. If you are interested in seeing (or tasting) what Burger Barr has to offer, please visit their website at https://burgerbarr.com/ or their location at 508 Hurffville Cross-Keys Rd., #13, Sewell. I wish Burger Barr continued success in Washington Township.

Shop Washington Township

I would like to report two more businesses that have recently joined the Shop Washington Township Program: Cold Stone Creamery and Tap Gallery. I would like to thank these merchants for choosing to be a part of the community and giving back to the residents of Washington Township. If you are having a craving for a cold, sweet ice cream treat, you can visit Cold Stone Creamery at 304 Greentree Rd # B, Sewell. They can also be reached at (856) 582–2300. Tap Gallery specializes in custom picture framing, but also has an original art gallery. If you would like to check out their studio, you can visit their store location at 3101 Blackhorse Pike Rt. 42, Sicklerville. They can also be reached at (856) 262–1232.

Along with these two new businesses, I would like to report that more Shop Washington Township cards have arrived at the Municipal Building. If you or someone you know still needs a Shop Washington Township card, they are available in every department of the Municipal Building.

If you are a merchant and would like to learn more about the Shop Washington Township Program, you can contact our Economic Development Consultant, Nancy Mozzachio at [email protected] or at (856) 589–0520 ext. 261.

Baseball team presented with proclamation

I was recently informed of an extraordinary baseball team that has achieved great strides in their sport. The Washington Township 13u travel baseball team had traveled to many different states to compete in national competitions. They played teams from Florida, Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana. Due to their dedication and perseverance, they defeated South Carolina in one of the national tournaments. I am told from their coach, that these young men are a close-knit group of athletes that not only work together on the baseball field, but off the field as well. On Aug. 28, I was happy to present this young group of athletes with a proclamation for all of their recent achievements in the sport of baseball. I wish them continued success in their sport, as well as in their academics. I would like to thank Council Vice President Sean Longfellow for also being there to support the 13u baseball team. I would also like to thank the coaches and assistant coaches for doing such a wonderful job in teaching these young men the importance of teamwork.

Joann Gattinelli is the Mayor of Washington Township. She can be reached at [email protected].
