Youth football coach to be inducted into the SJ Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame

Charlie Doud will be recognized for his distinguished service on JuneĀ 28

Charlie Doud, pictured right with Washington Township Football play-by-play announcer Matt Pesyna, often lends his football analysis to Minutemen broadcasts.

Washington Township school district student data coordinator, former Board of Education member and longtime Washington Township Youth Football coach Charlie Doud will be among six inductees to the 2017 South Jersey Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Doud will be recognized for his distinguished service on June 28, at the Adam Taliaferro Foundation All-Star Football banquet at 6 p.m. at Massoā€™s in Glassboro.

ā€œI am honored to be selected for this prestigious award, which I will accept on behalf of my family, fellow coaches and board members who have assisted me along the way,ā€ DoudĀ said.

Doud has spent the past 25 years as the head coach of the Washington Township 70-pound team and 23 years on the Youth Football Board. He served as commissioner of WTYF for 13 years and five years on the League FootballĀ Board.

Doud, who also currently coaches the township 85-pound team, chairs the boardā€™s charity efforts. He is also active in the school district as the president of the Washington Township Education Foundation.

The recipient of the 2016 Herb Neillo Distinguished Service Award from the Touchdown Club of South Jersey, Doud was honored in 2009 by Washington Township Youth Football when the field house at Joe Micucci Field was named ā€œDoud Fieldhouse.ā€ He was a 2005 WTHS Athletic Hall of Fame inductee for community service.

ā€œCharlie is the ultimate professional,ā€ said former WTHS football coach Mark Wechter, who nominated Doud for the recognition. ā€œEven though youth sports are volunteer, he approaches his coaching and community interaction as a professional. I had the great fortune of working with him for many years and had the privilege of Charlie coaching my son. He is what the township is allĀ about.ā€

ā€œI could not be more pleased by Charlieā€™s selection to the South Jersey Football Coaches Hall of Fame,ā€ 2016 SJFCA Hall of Fame inductee Dave Maxwell said. ā€œHe embodies youth football here in Southern New Jersey and has been doing so tirelessly and unselfishly for many, many years. It has been my pleasure to have called him my friend for all those years and collaborated with him on a whole host of projects. Congratulations, Charlie, on a job wellĀ done!ā€
