School election moves to November

The Voorhees Board of Education voted unanimously to move the annual school election from April to November at its Jan. 25 meeting.

Board of education members whose terms were slated to end this April will be extended to January — and they’ll be up for re-election in November. The board will reorganize the first week of January.

According to Frank DeBerardinis, assistant superintendent for business, the estimated savings of moving the elections from April to November is $12,000.

The cost of this year’s November election will be shared among various county and local entities.

The move to November also eliminates the public vote on proposed budgets under the state-mandated 2 percent cap.
