AAA South Jersey sponsoring annual $5,000 scholarship essay contest for high school seniors

The AAA South Jersey Automobile Club invites teachers and students to participate in its annual Traffic Safety Poster Contest. The contest runs through Feb. 27, 2015.

In its 71st year, AAA’s Traffic Safety Poster Contest communicates safety messages in schools, encourages peer-to-peer communication through creativity, and establishes trust in AAA for future members and their parents. The program continues its primary aim of reducing traffic and pedestrian crashes, the №1 cause of death for children ages 3 to 14. Students of all ages are invited to illustrate a selected safety category, under the supervision of their teachers. The program allows youth to become creative in slogan design while striving to create memorable entries, leading others to safety through example and enthusiasm. Entries are judged statewide for recognition.

Students in grades kindergarten through eighth may submit a poster design no larger than 15 x 22 inches. Students in grades ninth through 12 have the option of submitting a poster or an audio/visual entry.

Prizes in each age category are $300 for first place, $150 for second place and $100 for third place. Additionally, the teacher of each student placing first will receive a $50 gift card. The 2015 AAA Traffic Safety Poster Contest categories are:
