Animal Welfare Association receives $7,000 grant from BISSELL Pet Foundation
The BISSELL Pet Foundation, supported in part by BISSELL Homecare, Inc., has awarded $7,000 to the Animal Welfare Association to support their life-saving efforts.
Grant funds will be used to support veterinary services, spay/neuter surgeries, and microchips for pets owned by low-income families.
“With literally millions of homeless pets euthanized every year in the U.S., we focus on funding programs that will do the most to change this heartbreaking outcome,” explains Cathy Bissell, Founder of the BISSELL Pet Foundation. “It brings me and my team so much joy to know we are helping to save the lives of thousands of animals through these grant awards.”
Established in 2011 by Cathy Bissell, a devoted pet lover and advocate, the BISSELL Pet Foundation addresses the growing problem of displaced, unwanted and homeless pets by providing assistance to shelter and rescue programs, and by creating awareness about pet overpopulation, in the hopes of finding every pet a loving home. Since its inception, the foundation has given more than $2.7 million in support to organizations like the Animal Welfare Association.
The Animal Welfare Association is a private, non-profit, animal welfare organization, which operates the oldest and largest low-cost spay/neuter clinic, adoption center and no-kill animal shelter in South Jersey. The Association’s mission is to eliminate animal suffering, promote the importance of the human-animal bond and improve the role of animals in the well-being of people.
“We can’t be more thrilled to receive this grant because it allows us to continue delivering veterinary and spay/neuter services to pets living in the City of Camden, New Jersey,” said May Richmond, Executive Director of the Animal Welfare Association.“We’ve aided thousands of pets through our program — many who have never been to a veterinarian before. Continuing this work matters; it saves the lives of pets by keeping them healthy and in their homes with the families that love them.”
