Mayor’s Message: Get familiar with what you’re voting for this November

The deadline to register is Tuesday, Oct. 16

Mayor Michael Mignogna

The right to vote is an important individual liberty and the foundation of free government.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. This year, voters will be casting ballots to elect a State Senator, a United States Congressional member, three Freeholder members, the County Sheriff, two Voorhees Township Committee members, two Eastern Board of Education members and three Voorhees Township Board of Education members.

The deadline to register to vote in this year’s election is Tuesday, Oct. 16. Registration applications can be obtained online at www.camdencounty.com, from the Voorhees Municipal Clerk at Town Hall or at the Camden County Store in the Voorhees Town Center.

In recent years, casting your ballot has been made even easier through such initiatives as the Vote By Mail Program and the Early Voting Program.

All Voorhees voters were mailed a Vote By Mail (VBM) application in January. If you did not complete the application but still want to vote by mail, VBM applications can be obtained at www.camdencounty.com/vbmor the County Store. The VBM program now also affords you the option to apply to vote by mail forever.

The deadline to complete a VBM application is Tuesday, Oct. 30. Applications must be received by the County Clerk’s Office by 4 p.m. for a ballot to be mailed to a voter. The County Clerk’s Office is located at 520 Market Street, Room 102 in Camden. You can also apply in person for the VBM program by hand delivering your application to the County Clerk’s office by 3 p.m. on Nov. 5 and a ballot will be given to you.

Camden County also offers a Vote Early Program. The Early Voting Center is located at the Camden County Elections and Archive Center, 100 University Court, Blackwood, NJ 08012. From now through Election Day, interested voters can cast their ballots at this location Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. As Election Day approaches, the Center will offer extended hours. This information will be available at www.camdencounty.com.
