Seneca Students Attend Leadership Conference

Students from Seneca High School’s Multicultutal Club were given a chance to attend a leadership conference at University of Pennsylvania

Students from Seneca High School’s Multicultural Club attended the a program titled “Overcome Your Fears and Let Your Dreams Soar” at the University of Pennsylvania.

The goal of the one-day institute was to help support the development of the leadership and academic potential of diverse students in the Delaware Valley Consortium for Excellence & Equity high schools. The purpose was also to enlighten high-school-aged students about effectively addressing their challenges in school and in life, as well as to empower them to make sound and success-producing decisions about their futures.

Students had a choice of attending a range of break-out sessions after the opening session led by motivational speaker, Carlos Ojeda Jr., who shared his life story titled, “Tearing Down Mountains and Reaching the Summit of Success.” The break-out sessions our students chose to attend were: “Code Switching or Keeping It Real,” “I Want. I Can. I Will.,”“RESPECT: Just For Girls,” and “Success, Happiness, and a Great Life.

Sophomore Aubrey Gwaltney said, “It was very inspirational. I feel like my future has been bettered by this conference.” Junior Carl Gibbs added that “It was a great experience. Very inspirational. I now know that my voice is my power, and that I can do anything I want if I put my mind to it.”
