Welcome to 2019! Winter seems to be a fickle beast this year. Wind-chill below zero one-day and breezy, balmy fifty degrees the next, who knows what will be coming?

Our adult crafting program continues on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. with Valentine’s Day card making. Stop in the library to make a DIY Valentine’s Day card for that someone special using pre-cut images from our cricut machine. All materials will be provided. All you need bring is yourself.

On Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m., Nancy Underwood, certified professional organizer, home staging and design specialist will be presenting a program on downsizing your home. This class teaches you to look at all the things in your home with an eye for keeping what you truly need, use and want and defines ways to part with things by gifting, donating and selling. Unclutter your life and enjoy a new simplified life.

The next time you visit the library, take a moment or two and browse our book sale. The library offers gently read books at a greatly reduced price and all the proceeds go to support local reading programs like our monthly reading raffles for adults and children. There are a wide variety of subjects for all ages and interests, so stop by.

The beginning of a new year is a good time to plan your schedule ahead by adding our ongoing programs to your calendar. Among those programs is Paws to Read, a program to build children’s confidence by reading aloud to a registered therapy dog. You can schedule an appointment by calling the library or going online. We also are continuing our Gentle Yoga for Adults and Seniors designed to improve posture, balance, flexibility and strength. This group meets every other Saturday.

Another ongoing program is Talking Up a Storm, which focuses on ESL conversations for non-native speakers. This group meets every other Wednesday at 5 p.m. to talk about food, health, shopping and other topics and is facilitated by Mary Mansfield.

Until the next time, keep turning those pages and stay warm!
