Clean-Up Day volunteers worked to weed out Palmyra’s image problem

On Saturday, April 29, volunteers with the Palmyra Improvement Association pulled stubborn and deep-rooted weeds from overgrown flower beds along Broad Street to make room for colorful flowers as part of the association’s Clean-Up Day. The goal was to beautify Broad Street between Leconey and Garfield avenues in preparation for the influx of people who were coming downtown to celebrate Palmyra Downtown and Public Safety Day on Saturday, May 6.

Planning ahead: Palmyra school district planning budgeting now for capital improvements later

During the Palmyra school district’s public budget hearing on Wednesday, May 3, business administrator and board secretary Todd Reitzel devoted most of time to discussing the approximately $300,000 budgeted for capital expenses, which ultimately became the main topic of conversation for board members and the public. As presented, the board budgeted $293,645 to go directly to a capital reserve fund for architectural design planning for future updates and upgrades to existing facilities.

Palmyra’s senior athletes kicking their careers into high gear

Palmyra High School recognized senior students athletes who will be continuing their athletic careers in college next year with a signing ceremony in the Palmyra High School Auditorium on April 27. Seniors Liza Tait, David Lynch, Damien Jennings and Tomara Carmichael signed letters of commitment to their schools.
