Snowstorm hits Palmyra, Burlington County

Municipal offices are closed; county officials preparing for storm

It might be a good day to stay inside if you can.

Forecasts calling for heavy snow have already shut down many schools and public services, and officials are preparing to respond to any weather-related emergencies.

Palmyra municipal offices are closed, and the town has already pushed back its annual Easter egg hunt from Saturday, March 24 at 10 a.m. to the same time on Saturday, March 31 at Legion Field.

Burlington County offices and public libraries have also been closed for the day.

“Once again our road crews and a full compliment of approximately 70 trucks are standing by; they will work to plow our 508 miles of county roads until the snow has been cleared,” County Freeholder Director Kate Gibbs said in a Facebook post Tuesday night.

“We are activating our Emergency Operations Center effective early tomorrow (Wednesday) morning so we can efficiently coordinate all our county resources,” she added. “Further, we have declared a Code Blue weather emergency and encourage all residents to seek shelter and please use a great deal of caution if they must travel tomorrow.
