Fundraising for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month exceeds $100 goal

Harrison Township has raised approximately $325 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation

For the fourth year in a row, Harrison Township is working to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. If you look throughout the town, you will see signs of gold representing the township’s support. The Harrison Township Committee has partnered up again with the Harrison Township School District and other community members to help promote this cause and fundraiser.

Worldwide a child is diagnosed with some form of cancer every two minutes. Once they are diagnosed, they are treated with medications that are meant for adults and/or are outdated. Organizations such as St. Baldrick’s Foundation continue to try and raise funds to help researchers develop not only new medications for children, but to also prevent the lifelong damage that treatment causes children.

Childhood cancer is sorely underfunded; they only receive 4 percent of federal funding. Please consider using the link below to make a donation to help our local children and children around the world get the research needed to end childhood cancer.

Harrison Township has raised approximately $325, exceeding the original goal of $100. For more information, contact Kelly Redkoles at [email protected]. To donate, visit www.stbaldricks.org/fundraisers. Donations will be accepted through Oct. 31.
