‘We need more Austins in the world’
As summer comes to an end, children and their families begin to prepare for another school year. As a summer service project, Friends School of Mullica Hill PreK2 student Austin LeConey, 4, and his parents collected backpacks and school supplies for those who may be in need. Austin donated 67 backpacks, filled with school supplies, to children in need, almost tripling his donation of 24 last year.
Guided tours of the Garden@GCLS available
Gloucester County Library System invited residents to tour the Garden@GCLS in Mullica Hill, a 600-square foot plot of land that was converted from an unproductive stretch of lawn to a luscious garden teeming with pollinators. The area consists of five 4-foot by 8-foot raised beds. Every other Saturday during June through September the Gloucester County Library gives a guided tour of the Garden@GCLS. The next tour is Aug. 27 at 10 a.m.
From Clearview to country: Homegrown U.S. Lacrosse player wins gold
According to Mullica Hill resident Carol Tumolo, at the age of three her daughter Michelle could roller skate and had learned to ride a bike. She knew her little girl had a gift, but never could have predicted it would lead her to travel across the world competing for the U.S. Women’s Lacrosse team, bringing home gold medals at this year’s Women’s Lacrosse World Cup and 2017 World Games at the age of 26.
