Wizards, witches and lovers of everything magical are invited to join the Mullica Hill Business Association on Sept. 22 for its inaugural Main Street festival. Attendees can come in full attire ready to participate in the magical activities at the Wizards, Witch and Wands Festival.
Vice president of the association, TJ Coakley, advises everyone to purchase wristbands for around $12 on their TicketLeap site at wwwMullicaHillCom.TicketLeap.com and register for spots to be admitted in a number of venues from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.
“We’re working hard to make sure all families can come out and enjoy it,” Coakley said. “We’ll have activities for those who purchased wristbands and signed up, as well as ones available for everyone else.”
Most events are open for all to come in, enjoy and marvel at the work volunteers put in to create areas such as the magic penitentiary, scavenger hunt and Cherry Dukes, among others.
Volunteers from the business association, the board and the community have donated their time since December to come up with the vendors, logistics and venues for the expected 1,200 people.
“We’ll have Philly Soft Pretzel out selling pretzels, there will be popcorn, barbeque, and some local restaurants will join in too,” Coakley said. “The purpose of the event is to drive people to Mullica Hill and let them know what’s in the area such as shops, services, and professionals.”
Main Street businesses can expect more foot traffic than usual, if they’re open, with a number of the parking lots closed for the different venues the association has planned for the event.
“It’ll arrange from little venues like the OKKA (karate studio) having the basement walkthrough, broom making in one shop, and Old Town Hall Museum hosting the sorting house,” Coakley said.
Visitors are asked to park at the Harrison House Diner, Amish Market and Ella Harris Recreation Park near ShopRite. The rain or shine event is on Main Street from the St. Stephen’s Church, to the Mullica Hill Arts Center and Old Town Hall.
Families of all ages can enjoy activities such as a Quidditch scrimmage between Rowan and Stockton universities’ teams, costume contests throughout the day, and a chance to catch the township committee in photo-ready costumes.
Participation and wristbands are limited and everyone is requested to plan ahead for any sold-out venues, and to bring cash for several street vendors.
