The 48th annual Civil War living history weekend and fall open house returns to Mullica Hill on Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. until around 7 p.m., and Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Many soldiers take the roll of the ancestors who fought in the war. General John Houke said “we must remember the mistakes of the past, not to repeat them in the future!” Several soldiers that fought in the war are buried on Church Street.
Union camp will be behind Sisters Fine Jewelry and the Confederate camp will be at Church Street Medical. Weapons displays, camp life and battles will occur both days.
The family-friendly event is free and open to the public. The street will have live music, food trucks and vendors. Kids games and sand art at Flossy’s boutique, Cherry on Top ice cream and Mademoiselle Macaron Sweets cart will be on the street. Many shops are having open house specials.
The party for Farm House Designs’s 18 birthday will include treats and cider, free pumpkin painting for the kids —which has become an annual event in it’s self — and live music.
Mademoiselle Macaroon Sweets will be open with fall flavored treats for sale. Meet at the Union camp at 7 p.m. to enjoy the free lantern tour of the camps, stories and history by the camp fire, then, by candlelight, be led to Confederate camp for the evening firing of the cannons.
