If the 2011 budget referendum fails, township services and jobs would be significantly cut, Township Manager Jennifer Blumenthal said at last night’s council work session meeting.
Blumenthal said five officers, three senior center employees, seven crossing guards and four public works jobs would likely be eliminated, should the referendum be denied by residents at the polls on April 27.
If the referendum is passed, Blumenthal said, the averaged assessed home at $142,000 would see about a $170 increase in taxes.
Last year, Blumenthal said, the averaged assessed home paid about $6,000 in taxes, with approximately 13 percent or $780 going to the township. That comes out to about $15 a week, Blumenthal added.
If the referendum passes, the average assessed home would owe approximately $950 in taxes to the township, or about $18.30 per week.
