The program will feature holiday carols from around the globe including France, Germany, and Spain and more.
The South Jersey Pops non-profit orchestra will take a world view of this season as it presents “Celebrate: A Global Holiday” on Sunday, Dec. 16, at Lenape High School.
The second of its four performances during its 49th season, the program will feature holiday carols from around the globe including France, Germany, and Spain, local music to warm the hearts of Philadelphians, along with Hanukkah songs and popular and timeless holiday classics.
The Pops, under the steady guidance of conductor Robert Bradshaw, will be accompanied by the Audubon Elementary School fifth and sixth grade choir, and guest vocalist-guitarist Charlie Hannagan of Wilmington, Del. The performance begins at 3 p.m., at Lenape High School, located at 235 Hartford Road.
A reprise performance, without the Audubon choir, will kick off at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, at Marlton United Methodist Church, 2 Marlborough Ave. in , Marlton.
Seats for this performance will be more limited, so tickets must be purchased in advance at www.southjerseypops.org/events.
“Our theme for this concert season is exploration. Exploring the sea, exploring Earth, and exploring the stars. This concert is exploring how various cultures celebrate the winter holidays, and it is actually quite a palette of musical pieces,” said Bradshaw, who is founder and director of the Haddonfield School of Music. “Some may be familiar, some not so, but the orchestra will bring these numbers to vivid, festive life.”
Following “Celebrate,” the 2018–2019 season’s remaining concerts include “Expedition: Exploring Earth” on March 24, 2019, and “Lift Off: Exploring Beyond,” on May 19, 2019.
“Celebrate: A Global Holiday” begins at 3 p.m. and doors open 30 minutes before the performance. All concerts are $10 for adults, free for children 13 and younger.
A subscription package for all remaining concerts is available now for $22.50. To order individual tickets or to subscribe, visit www.southjerseypops.org/events.
