The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.
An employee of a business on the 3100 block of Route 38 reported at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Sept. 4th an unknown male called claiming to represent PSE&G and threatened to disconnect the utilities of the business unless immediate payment was made for a past due account. The suspect claimed the business owed $1,900.83 but that he would accept $869.42 for the past due balance in the form of a money order. The suspect instructed the employee to get a money order and then call (973) 970–3292 for further instructions. When called this number will announce that you have reached the “Disconnection Department” and that “all agents are busy” and asks you to leave a message. PSE&G confirmed that this is not a phone number associated with their company and that they did not contact the business.
A resident of the 1100 block of Hainesport Road reported a theft. A lawnmower, valued at $200, was taken from the back yard between noon and 6 p.m., Aug. 28.
A resident of the unit block of Hillside Lane reported a criminal mischief. A mailbox post was damaged between 9 p.m., Aug. 28, and 1 p.m., Aug. 29. Damage is estimated at $50.
A resident of the 400 block of Evans Court reported debit card information was used to make two fraudulent transactions totaling approximately $200 in Las Vegas. Both incidents occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 27.
Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 47-year-old man of the unit block of Dunham Loop, Berlin, on Aug. 30, for driving while intoxicated. He was arrested after being stopped on South Church Street in the area of Ramblewood Parkway for a motor vehicle violation at 1:20 a.m. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.
An employee of a business on Creek Road reported a burglary and theft. The incident occurred between 6:30 p.m., Aug. 29 and 8:40 a.m., Aug. 30. Entry was gained by forcing the basement window. One thousand dollars in cash was forcibly removed from an office cabinet.
A resident of the unit block of Musket Lane reported a burglary and theft to a residence. The incident occurred between 6:30 p.m. Aug. 29 and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 30. Entry was gained by breaking the garage door window. An unknown amount of coins were taken from the bedroom closet.
An employee of Prospectors on Route 38 reported a theft. A patron ordered and consumed $54 worth of food without making payment. The incident occurred at 3:18 p.m. on Aug. 31.
Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 50-year-old man of the unit block of Bretton Way, on Aug. 31, for driving while intoxicated. He was stopped on Route 38 near Larchmont Boulevard for a motor vehicle violation at 11:11 p.m. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.
An employee of the Ulta on Nixon Drive reported a shoplifting on Sept. 1 at 6:25 p.m. A female suspect was observed leaving the store with a bottle of perfume valued at $72. The suspect left the area prior to police arrival.
Mt. Laurel Police charged two men for an attempted burglary that occurred on the 200 block of Hartford Road on Aug. 8. During the incident, the resident returned home as the two were attempting to gain entry to the residence and they fled in a white pick-up truck. On Sept. 3, a 28-year-old man from Collings Lake and a 30-year-old man from Hammonton were taken into custody by officers from several jurisdictions after the two fled a burglary in Pine Hill. The men had been suspects in several burglaries in the region. The two are incarcerated in the Salem County Jail on several charges relating to burglaries in Salem County. Mt. Laurel Police charged the man from Collings Lake with attempted burglary, criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit burglary. The Hammonton man was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary. Their bail for the Mt. Laurel charges was set at $15,000 each.
Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 24-year-old woman of the unit block of Merion Road, Marlton, on Sept. 4, for driving while intoxicated. She was stopped on Route 38 in the area of Briggs Road at 12:09 a.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.
A resident of the unit block of Foxcroft Way reported a fraud. The resident was advised by their bank of a suspicious request to transfer funds via their email account. No funds were transferred. It was discovered the victim’s account information had been compromised by unknown persons obtaining a copy of one of the victim’s bank documents. The incident occurred at an unspecified date and time prior to 10:00 a.m. on Sept. 4.
Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 73-year-old woman, of the 1100 block of Tasker Street, Philadelphia, at the Shoprite on Nixon Drive for shoplifting. The incident occurred on Sept. 4 at 1:23 p.m. Shoprite Loss Prevention observed the woman attempting to leave the store with merchandise valued at $17.19. She was charged with shoplifting and released pending a municipal court hearing.
Two patrons of stores in Centerton Square reported having their wallets stolen on Sept. 4 by subjects using a distraction technique. The first theft occurred at Wegman’s at approximately 6 p.m. The victim reported she had her purse in her shopping cart and was distracted by a suspect who questioned her about cereal. While distracted a second suspect stole her wallet from her purse. A similar incident took place at Costco at approximately 7:45 p.m. The victim reported she was also distracted by a suspect who asked about some product. Her wallet was also stolen from her purse that was in the shopping cart. Both victims described the suspect who distracted them as a clean shaven male, six-feet tall, in his mid-20’s wearing a white t-shirt and black pants. A description of the second suspect was not available.
Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 60-year-old man of the 1900 block of North Birchwood Park Drive, Cherry Hill, on Sept. 5, at 11:50 a.m. for driving while intoxicated. He was arrested during the investigation into a single vehicle crash in the parking lot of the Sage Diner on Route 73. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.
An employee of Ground Effects Construction reported a theft from a vehicle that occurred between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sept. 3 on the 100 block of Gaither Drive. Equipment valued at approximately $11,000 was taken from the bed of a truck that was parked in the rear of the business.
A student of Burlington County College on Route 38 reported the theft of a cellular phone valued at $500. The student accidentally left the phone on a classroom desk on Sept. 3 between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
A resident of the unit block of Millstream Drive reported a burglary and theft to a residence that occurred on Sept. 5, between 5:15 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. Entry was gained through an unlocked rear window. Jewelry, valued at approximately $16,500, was taken.
Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 44-year-old woman of the unit block of Edgewater Court, Sicklerville, on Sept. 6 at 3:11 a.m., for driving while intoxicated. She was stopped on Route 73 in the area of Fellowship Road for a motor vehicle violation and charged with driving while intoxicated. She was released pending a court hearing.
Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 26-year-old man of the 200 block of Countryside Lane, on Sept. 6 at 6:50 a.m. for driving while intoxicated. He was stopped on Church Road near Route 73 for a motor vehicle violation and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was released pending a court hearing.
A resident of the 600 block of Ashberry Court reported an attempted burglary to a residence that occurred on Sept. 6, between midnight and 8 a.m. Entry to the residence was attempted through an unlocked side window.
Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 38-year-old man of the unit block of Stonehurst Drive, Voorhees, on Sept. 7 for shoplifting $402.59 in merchandise from Wegman’s on Centerton Road. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a court hearing.
