Forged checks and employee theft tops this week’s Mt. Laurel Police Report

In August 2016 the owner of a medical office on Briggs Road reported that two former employees had been stealing money from the business over a period of time.

The following reports are on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:

In August 2016 the owner of a medical office on Briggs Road reported that two former employees had been stealing money from the business over a period of time. The investigation revealed that between March 2016 and August 2016 a female employee, age 29, of Turnersville, cashed forged checks at various locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania totaling $4,959. A warrant for her arrest was obtained charging her with theft by deception and conspiracy to commit theft by deception. On Sept. 22 she turned herself into police. She was released pending a court hearing after posting 10 percent of $25,000 bail. The investigation also revealed that a second employee, a female, age 29, of Sewell, cashed forged checks at various locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania totaling $14,412. The second employee also accessed the computerized payment system of the business and stole an additional $8,985. Warrants were obtained charging the second female with computer criminal activity, theft by deception, and conspiracy to commit theft by deception. She remains at large.

At 11:58 a.m. on Sept. 21, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Optique Boutique, 3223 Route 38, for a shoplifting complaint. An unknown female stole four pairs of sunglasses valued at approximately $1,000. The suspect was described as a female, approximately 5’5’’tall, 150lbs with straight black hair wearing a green jacket and black pants. She fled the scene in a blue four door sedan.

At 9:41 p.m. on Sept. 19, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Pleasant Valley Avenue and Fellowship Road for a vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole. During the investigation officers arrested a male, age 57, of Princeton. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.
