Mt. Laurel Police do not believe the initial home invasion was a random act.
According to Mt. Laurel Police, at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 7 Mt. Laurel Police responded to a residence on Hilltop Drive in Mt. Laurel after the resident reported that three unknown men entered his residence and at least one man was armed with a handgun.
The men fled the area in a silver Buick and were soon spotted by police.
Medford and Evesham Police assisted as the vehicle fled and eventually crashed on Carlton Avenue in Evesham.
According to Evesham Police, the suspect’s were taken into custody as they attempted to flee the stop on foot.
The nearby DeMasi Elementary/Middle School was also placed into a “shelter in place” as the event unfolded.
Evesham Police say the assigned School Resource Officer at DeMasi immediately secured the school as the surrounding officers apprehended the suspects involved in the crime.
Evesham Police described event as an example of the importance of the department’s school resource officer program as the department was able to immediately protect the school staff and students from a potential dangerous incident.
Mt. Laurel Police say the circumstances surrounding the original home invasion crime are still under investigation but police do not believe the initial home invasion was a random act.
