Mt. Laurel cuts ribbon for new and refurbished turf fields at Memorial Park

Residents who haven’t stopped by Mt. Laurel’s Memorial Park in a while might think they’re seeing double the next time they head over to 235 Mt. Laurel Road. Township officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week to commemorate the opening of a second turf field at the park, in addition to the recent refurbishing of the park’s original turf field.

‘PINK Home Run Derby’ to raise money for breast cancer patients on Sept. 22 at Laurel Acres Park

Mt. Laurel resident Kelly Neri is once again organizing a “PINK” Homerun Derby fundraiser set for Sept. 22 at the Laurel Acres Park Triplex at Red Field. This event is for grades one through seven and all towns/teams are welcome. The event will raise money for Maryann’s Pink Warriors, a group created by Neri and her siblings to honor her mother, Maryann, who lost her battle at 56 years old in 2013.

Mt. Laurel Police seek information in alleged hit-and-run incident

The following information is on file with the Mt. Laurel Township Police Department:

The Mt. Laurel Police Traffic Unit and Detective Bureau are asking for the public’s assistance in locating an alleged hit-and-run vehicle and driver. On Sept. 1 at approximately 10:15 p.m., police say an unidentified vehicle allegedly struck a bicyclist as he was riding on Centerton Road. Police say an investigation revealed that the impact allegedly occurred on Centerton Road in the area of Lockheed Martin (770 Centerton Road).

Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education recognizes inspirational staff

This week’s Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education meeting shined a spotlight on staff who stand as inspirations to others. The BOE honored its district teacher of the year, two school resource officers and two security staff members.

Southern Burlington County NAACP to host voter registration and Gala events in coming weeks

The Southern Burlington County NAACP will host two community events on opposite ends of the county in September and October. The group is set to host a SOULcial Justice Cafe Open Mic voter registration event in late September and a Gala fundraiser featuring Lieutenant Governor Sheila L. Oliver in October.
