Rabbit adoptions at PetSmart

For Bunny Sake Rabbit Rescue will host a meet and greet at the Moorestown PetSmart, Eastgate Shopping Center, on Sunday, Feb. 7, from noon to 3 p.m.

A few of the available bunnies looking for forever homes will be in attendance, along with volunteers to answer any questions you may have about adoption, or volunteering.

AAUW to award college scholarship

The American Association of University Women (AAUW), Medford area branch, will award a $1,000 college scholarship to a non-traditional woman student who wants to return to college after interrupting her studies due to family or other responsibilities. Application deadline is March 15.

To be eligible, the applicant must: be a Burlington County resident but could be attending an out-of-county college; take at least one course per semester and if already enrolled, must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

The applicant should complete the application form, provide the most recent transcript if already enrolled, and submit an essay of about 500 words describing her quest for a college education and how it has taken a non-traditional route.

Also include how this scholarship will help to achieve goals.

Submit a letter of recommendation from a professional who can speak to character, work ethic and career aspirations.

Samaritan Hospice 2010 Gala

Samaritan Hospice will host its 2010 Gala on Feb. 27. The not-for profit agency’s event will include entertainment, raffles, dinner, dancing, an auction and acknowledgement of all of the people who have helped the organization reach this important milestone. The Gala, sponsored by Holman Automotive, will take place at The Westin Mount Laurel, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $200 each, and tables of 10 are $1800.

Proceeds from the evening benefit the Samaritan Hospice programs and services which receive no reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. Proceeds will also help care for patients who do not have insurance

At the gala, Samaritan will honor 30 years of patients, families, volunteers, staff and supporters who have impacted Samaritan’s legacy and the hospice philosophy of care throughout the organization’s 2,200-square mile service area.

The winner of Samaritan’s annual Year of Delightful Dining Raffle will be announced at the Gala. Each raffle ticket costs $5 and one winner will receive 12 gift certificates valued at $200 each ($2,400 grand prize value) to some of the area’s best restaurants. Samaritan will also announce the winner of a Super 50/50 Raffle. These tickets are $25 each and the winner will receive half of the money collected for this raffle. The Tender seeks volunteers

The Tender, Inc., an organization serving seniors in Burlington County, needs more volunteers 18 or older to drive frail elderly people to medical or other appointments and take them shopping and to work directly with clients in the day center, helping with games, crafts and other activities and with snacks and lunch.

Volunteers receive training and orientation. While day center volunteers are asked to commit to the same day each week, the commitment for transportation volunteers is flexible; they can choose assignments that fit their personal schedules. CONTACT needs phone help

CONTACT of Burlington County, a 24-hour telephone crisis helpline, is looking for volunteers. No experience is necessary — training provided.

Training covers therapeutic communication skills and topics such as depression, suicide and community resources. We need caring people to answer our crisis helplines. If you are 18 years or older, please call CONTACT to register at 234–5484 x213.
