Moorestown Board of Education President Don Mishler announced that Brian Betze, the current superintendent of the Berlin Township School District, has accepted the district’s offer to be the new Moorestown superintendent of schools in 2012–2013.
He will take over for retiring Superintendent John Bach, who had enjoyed a five-year tenure with the school district.
“I am very pleased to announce that Mr. Brian Betze, the current Superintendent of the Berlin Township School District, has accepted the board of education’s offer to be the next Superintendent of Moorestown Township Public Schools. Mr. Betze has a distinguished record as an educational change agent, and has guided the Berlin Township School District to earn national recognition for student achievement, educational excellence, and technology innovation,” Mishler said. “Over his 25 plus years as an educational leader, Mr. Betze has held high school and secondary teaching positions, has served as supervisor of curriculum, supervisor of special education and principal for multiple South Jersey school districts, and for the last eight years has led the redesign, improvement, and sustained excellence of the Berlin Township School District as its superintendent.”
Betze will be recommended as the next superintendent in the May board of education meeting.
During the next few months, Mishler said a thoughtful and comprehensive plan will be implemented to facilitate his transition as the district’s next superintendent.
“The board looks forward to engaging the support of all district stakeholders to welcome Mr. Betze to the district, and to prepare for the work ahead,” he said. “The board would like to extend our appreciation to all the citizens, students, teachers, and staff who contributed to and participated in the process and provided guidance to us in this successful and important decision.”
