Long and Foster Real Estate relocated to Main Street from Marter Avenue this past April, and associates were excited to become first-time participants in Moorestown’s Candlelight Night in November. In celebration, the real estate company launched its First Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Contest and welcomed hundreds of visitors to the newly renovated Hopkins House.
Throughout the evening, guests sampled cakes and cookies made with gingerbread while touring the house and viewing and judging more than a dozen gingerbread creations submitted by local adults and children. When the votes were tallied, 358 guests voted for their favorite entry in various prize categories.
With her expansive and precisely detailed construction, Linda Kastner was awarded the grand prize of a $100 gift card. Kastner’s entry was also named Most Creative with its innovative use of edibles in constructing the perfect “pumpkin patch and farmhouse” apple “trees” and frozen “stream.”
The competition in the Youth Category, (12 years and under), was strong with many excellent entries. A well-constructed cottage featuring a candy studded walkway won Matt Cicero (age 10) first prize of a $25 gift card. With so many entries receiving strong votes, Honorable Mention gift certificates were also awarded to Elijah Cottingham (age 4); Gianna Ambrose (age 9); Lia Marshall (age 9) and Lizzie Brown (age 12).
