Moorestown BOE and MEA come to an agreement on teacher contracts

The following information was provided by the Moorestown Township Public Schools BOE:

The Moorestown Township Public Schools Board of Education and the Moorestown Education Association, after nine months of negotiations, have come to an agreement on a teacher’s contract settlement. The current contract expires on June 30, 2016, and the new contract will run July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019.

The BOE would like to thank the MEA leadership’s efforts for their openness and willingness to discuss all the issues in a non-adversarial manner, and work collaboratively to negotiate a settlement that both parties see as fair, but also requiring sacrifices. The contract highlights include

-ď‚· Recognizing and rewarding our highly experienced and capable staff by maintaining our existing salary guide with minor enhancements;

-ď‚· MEA members continuing to contribute the current maximum allowable contributions towards their healthcare throughout the duration of this contract;

-ď‚· Changes to the base health care and specialty prescription drug plans which will provide significant savings to both MEA members and the district; and

-ď‚· An additional four (4) more hours of professional development time and more duty assignments.
