Sixteen Moorestown Friends School students were inducted into the Cum Laude Society, a national honor society for public and independent secondary schools, at a ceremony at MFS on May 18.
The inductees included seniors Marirose Aleardi, A.J. Dunham, Kathryn Gregory, Emily Herman, Amanda Karlsson, Andrea Kinzler, Mitchell Mullock, and Mia Zayas. Juniors inducted were Jessica Ferber, Alexander Horn, Katherine Kasperson, Katherine Repholz, Kelcie Satterthwaite, Hannah Thomson, Nicholas Tursi, and Rachael Whitley.
Named to the Cum Laude Society last year were current seniors Erin Chen, Edward Gelernt, Alexandra Katsnelson, Samuel Milligan, Joshua Murdy, Andayah Sams, and Jacob Schoifet.
Students are selected for membership in the Cum Laude Society based on their cumulative record of academic excellence in all subject areas. No more than 20 percent of a school’s senior class may be selected, with no more than 10 percent chosen during their junior year. Moorestown Friends School received its Cum Laude charter in 1962.

Inducted into the National Chinese Honor Society were juniors Alexander Barrett, Nicolas Boller, Medina Shah, Hannah Thomson, and Nicholas Tursi. Inducted into the National French Honor Society (Société Honoraire de Français) were juniors Kirstin McKeown and Katherine Repholz.Inducted into the NationalSpanish Honor Society (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica) were juniors Jessica Ferber, Alexander Horn, Andrea Kinzler, Isaac Muñoz, Kelcie Satterthwaite and Natalie Zakroff.
The National Chinese Honor Society was established in November 1993 to recognize those accomplished high school students who study Chinese as a world language. The National Chinese Honor Society is a scholastic organization that promotes and recognizes students with good citizenship, leadership, and deeds of community service.
The Société Honoraire de Français of the American Association of Teachers of French aims to stimulate interest in the study of French, to promote high standards of scholarship, to reward scholastic achievements, to create enthusiasm for and an understanding of francophone culture, to promote and perpetuate international friendship, and to reward efforts toward furthering solidarity in the French-speaking world. The Moorestown Friends School chapter of the honor society has been in existence since 1989.
The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and Portuguese and is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. The Moorestown Friends School chapter of the honor society has been in existence since 1989.
