BOE candidates running unopposed in Nov. election

There are three candidates running for three seats in November’s board of education election for Medford schools, according to documents posted by the Burlington County Clerk’s office.

Heather Foster, Cynthia Wassersug and incumbent board member Jeffrey Wagner will be running unopposed for full, three-year terms.

The elections will take place during the general election on Nov. 6.

New York City children are invited to take a breath of fresh air

Richard and Kiera buckle up to enjoy the day at Diggerland Theme Park.

New York City children are invited to step out of the city and take a breath of fresh air with the Fresh Air Fund.

Volunteer host families along the East Coast and Southern Canada can sign up to provide unique opportunities for children to gain experiences in rural areas they otherwise would not have access to.

Medford residents Laura and Leo Pratte took in a child through the Fresh Air Fund for the first time in 2014 after hearing about the organization through a flier they had seen. Since 2016, they have been hosting a 10-year-old child named Richard, and they invite him back to their home every year to spend approximately seven to 11 days in Medford.

Children are taking flight as Aerospace Camp glides into its second week

Summer is soaring by, but the kids enrolled in Aerospace Camp at the Flying W Airport are just taking flight.

The camp presents an interactive learning experience for children ages 7 to 12 who are interested in all aspects of aviation. Throughout their time at the camp, they build model airplanes to learn the parts and instruments necessary to make an airplane operate, including the construction of white wing competition flyers, Wright flyers and foam gliders.

In addition, they design a rocket to be launched at the end of the camp and create their own model of an airport runway — displaying components such as the compass rose and windsock, that they were able to see firsthand on the runway at the Flying W.
