LETTER: Kennedy honored to be named ARVF’s Community Champion

Oct. 4 was one of the truly great honors I’ve ever received, and I wanted to take a moment to thank Mario and Gisele DiNatale and everyone associated with the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation. (www.arvf.org)

The ARVF is a non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization. ARVF provides activities, programs and events that enhance the quality of life for teens with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Since its inception, ARVF has successfully partnered with 98 children’s hospitals in 37 states throughout the country, funding 60 Teen Lounges and providing more than 11,000 Teen Kits to critically ill children.

At the 11th annual Birthday Bash I was presented with ARVF’s Community Champion Award for service to this great cause. It is my honor and privilege to be a part of such an amazing organization.

As I said at the event, I never had the opportunity to meet Alicia DiNatale, but her legacy speaks for itself. Her parents, brothers and friends are remarkable people who have given so much to many kids across the country who are suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

My family, like so many others, was impacted by this horrible disease. I watched my in-laws experience the worst pain imaginable as they lost their daughter. It’s the worst nightmare for every parent, and I can’t possibly understand how Mario and Gisele have turned their tragedy into such an amazing cause. They are incredible people.

I’d also like to applaud Bob Platzer, CEO of PJ Whelihan’s Pub, for his recognition as ARVF’s Corporate Champion. Bob is a true gentleman, a humanitarian and what he has done with PJ’s, the Chophouse and the Pour House is tremendous.

Thanks again to Mario and Gisele for all you do and for allowing me to play a small part in this amazing cause.
