The following information was provided by the Medford Township Police Department.

On Sept. 29 at 12:15 p.m., Medford Township Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to the Medford Leas Retirement Community, near the main office, for a motor vehicle crash with an unconscious driver.

Upon arriving, Medford Twp. Police discovered a silver Subaru Forrester that had collided head on into a tree. The driver, a 94-year-old Medford man, was found to be unconscious in the vehicle. He was removed from the vehicle and transported by Medford EMS ambulance to Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly where he died from internal injuries a short time after arrival.

A preliminary crash investigation revealed that there was an initial minor collision with a white Toyota Camry, operated by an 88-year-old Medford woman, in the parking lot. The man’s vehicle then left the roadway, striking a light post, and ultimately colliding head on into a tree. The crash investigation is ongoing at this time.
