Fire causes major damage to homes in Medford

One person suffered minor burns

On Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 4:22 p.m., Medford Township Police, Fire and EMS responded to a residence on Wentwood Court in the Taunton Trace neighborhood for the report of a fire. Upon arrival, officers observed heavy smoke and fire emanating from the rear of the residence. Officers confirmed that the residence and surrounding residences were evacuated.

Medford Township Fire, assisted by Medford Lakes, Tabernacle, Evesham, Vincentown and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, worked the fire. The Medford Township Fire Police also assisted. The fire went to two alarms before being placed under control.

The residence, as well as an adjacent residence, suffered extensive fire, smoke and water damage resulting in the occupants being displaced. A third residence also suffered smoke damage. An occupant of one of the residences suffered minor burns to his arm. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Medford Township Fire Marshall in conjunction with the Medford Township Police Criminal Investigations Bureau.
