Due to the unusual number of snow days this year, Lenape Regional High School District students will have their spring breaks cut short — unless they have a note from their parents.
The new spring break will be from Friday, April 2 to Monday, April 5, and school will be open from April 6–9, according to a statement from Superintendent Emily Capella. Students with spring break plans can receive excused absences for April 6–9, if parents provide notes to the principal by April 1.
The last day of school and the high school graduation ceremony also moved from June 17 to June 18.
The unusually high amount of snow this winter has shuffled school schedules across the region. Because most districts didn’t have enough inclement weather days in their calendars, many were left deciding whether to extend their school year or cancel school holidays.
LRHSD canceled five days this school year due to inclement weather and had none built in to its calendar.
