The Evesham Police Department arrested a suspect yesterday in connection with vandalism at several churches throughout South Jersey that targeted religious statues.
The break in this case came when an alert news viewer provided a tip to police which lead to the identity of the suspect.
According to the department’s reports, police arrested 41-year-old Curtis N. Condell from Magnolia for his role in the vandalism. Condell was charged with bias intimidation and criminal mischief in Evesham for causing damage to two religious statues at the Saint Joan of Arc Church, located on Willowbend Road, on July 14.
The investigation involved the cooperative effort between the Evesham Police Department, the Gloucester Township Police Department, the Mt. Laurel Police Department and the Cherry Hill Police Department.
Condell has been, or will be, charged with offenses from other townships. The Mt. Laurel Police Department charged him with the July vandalism of statues at the Cistercian Monastery. The Cherry Hill Police Department will be charging Condell with church vandalisms at seven Cherry Hill Churches during the month of July.
Condell has been committed to the Burlington County Jail in default of $100,000Â bail.
