Weekly Roundup: One-On-One with Cherokee’s Ethan Wechsler, police name officer of the month

The Sun One-On-One with … Cherokee junior Ethan Wechsler

One of the Chiefs coming into his own this fall on the current Cherokee cross country team is junior Ethan Wechsler. The 16-year-old Wechsler was Cherokee’s top finisher at the Shore Coaches Invitational the first weekend of October, finishing in fourth place in his race but also sporting the sixth best time overall in a field of more than 1,200 runners. A few days later, Wechsler took part in The Sun One-on-One.

Evesham Township Police Department announces ‘Officer of the Month’ for September 2018

The Evesham Township Police Department (ETPD) has announced Sgt. Bernard Davis as the department’s “Officer of the Month” for September 2018. Police are commending Davis for his role in preventing an early morning robbery at the Promenade at Sagemore shopping center.

Burlington County partners with Virtua to offer free mobile mammogram screenings Oct. 23

The Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders is partnering with Virtua to offer free mobile mammogram screenings on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the Burlington County Health Department in Westampton. Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders Director Kate Gibbs said the effort will enhance the health and wellness of women in the county.

This week’s editorial reminded residents that the deadline to register to vote in New Jersey for the upcoming general election is on Oct. 16. After handing in the proper forms, The Sun encourages residents to learn all they can about the issues and candidates they can vote for in November.

Lenape Regional High School District invites public to strategic planning meetings

The Lenape Regional High School District invites the community to take part in a series of meetings to help the district create a strategic plan that will guide for the next five years. The administration will hold a series of four community engagement sessions, beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Cherokee High School.
