Cherokee High School spring musical ‘Bye Bye Birdie’ starts Friday, May 16

Cherokee High School is proud to present its spring musical, “Bye Bye Birdie,” on Friday, May 16 and May 23, and Saturday, May 17 and May 24, at the Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center.

This Tony award winning musical comedy tells the story of rock-n-roll star Conrad Birdie’s visit to Sweet Apple, Ohio. Before leaving to join the army, Conrad is going to deliver “one last kiss” to all-american girl Kim MacAfee. Jealousy and hilarity soon follow, with fun and memorable songs, such as “Telephone Hour,” “How Lovely to Be a Woman” and “A Lot of Livin’ to Do.”

“The students have really worked hard for this show”, director Joe Fisicaro said. “Not just for the stage performance, but building sets, making costumes, and raising money to support the production.”

“Bye Bye Birdie” showcases the singing, dancing, and acting talents of Cherokee High School’s students, and is fun for the whole family. Tickets for adults are $12, and $10 for students and senior citizens. Gold Cards will be accepted for free admission at Saturday’s performance on May 17. Show time for all performances is 7:30 p.m.

The Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center is located at Cherokee High School, 130 Tomlinson Mill Road in Marlton. Tickets can be purchased online at www.sjtheater.com or by calling the box office at (856) 983–3366. Tickets will also be available at the door.
